Corrugated Screen: Brain & Cinema 25.5. - 26.5. 2010


Place: Film theatre Bunuel, The Aalto-university School of Art and Design, Department of Film and Television, Hämeentie 135 C (take the elevator to the 1st floor, go 1st left and then right)

Our aim is to learn about moving image as a medium for thinking. We will examine the mechanisms of experimental film, arthouse cinema and Hollywood cinema. We will go through some aspects and themes concerning thought and film introduced by the film directors, cognitive film theorists and philosophers. Also we will be watching lots of films.

9 - 12 About perception, narrative and other aspects (classical narrative film and modern cinema)

12 - 13 Lunch break
13 - 16 About perception, alternative narration and non-narrative strategies in experimental film and in the new forms of moving image

13.00 - 15.30 Screening of the film Facs of Life by Silvia Magnoli and Graeme Thomson in the presence of the directors and the students from ELO. Place: Sampo-sali (very big Sampo Hall), The Aalto-university School of Art and Design, Media Centre Lume, Hämeentie 135 C, 2nd floor. The screening will be hosted by yours truly, together with mollecular organisation.
